Together with O’Meara’s reagent (1HHX), Barritt’s reagent, which contains α-naphthol, leads to a more intense red colouration.
The Voges-Proskauer test is part of the Bunte series for the differentiation of bacteria, especially from the Enterobacteriaceae group.
