Woman represents "the mercury in the thermometer of the race. Her status shows to what degree it has risen out of barbarism” - Vida Goldstein.
Vida Goldstein was a pioneering advocate for women’s rights and social reform, inspired by her family's commitment to activism. She was the first woman to run for parliament in Australia and worked tirelessly for equal pay and voting rights. Her legacy as a champion for equality continues to inspire. Vida also made history as the first Australian invited to the White House's Oval Room, representing Australia at the International Woman Suffrage Conference and advocating before the US Congress.
*Note: Vida was a woman of her time and her campaigning for women's rights was not inclusive of First Nations Australians. Her work, however, paved the way for future generations to campaign for the right to vote for every one in Australia.
