Shopping security
This commercial hardware bundle allows you to install an Ethernet kitchen order printer in a kitchen, prep station or outdoor bar when your main broadband router or network switch is located in a different room or floor.
By using a high-performance wireless access point to bridge the physical distance, this kit eliminates the need to run long, permanent network cables through walls, ceilings or under floorboards.
In most hospitality venues, the main internet router or network switch is kept away from the kitchen area—often in a back office, cellar or behind the front bar. Running a physical network cable from that point to the kitchen line can be difficult, expensive or prohibited by building regulations.
This bundle bypasses long cable runs by establishing a secure, local wireless link across your premises:
Establish the wireless link: The Ubiquiti U7 Pro access point is installed inside or directly outside the kitchen area. It connects wirelessly back to your existing wireless network or central router.
Connect the hardware locally: You plug one end of the 5-metre Ubiquiti patch cable into the back of the Star SP742ME3 printer, and run the other end directly into the Ethernet port on the base of the U7 Pro access point.
Print order tickets: When front-of-house staff enter an order into your POS terminal, the data travels wirelessly through your building to the U7 Pro, which passes it down the short cable to print the ticket instantly in the kitchen.
1. Star Micronics SP742ME3 Dot Matrix Kitchen Printer
Part Number: 39339442
Printing Technology: Impact dot-matrix. Unlike thermal printers, it uses ink ribbons, meaning order tickets will not degrade or turn black when exposed to heat, steam and grease near the line.
Casing Design: Splash-resistant enclosure with hidden cable paths to prevent liquid ingress from spills.
Two-Colour Output: Supports black and red ribbons to highlight special dietary requirements or order modifications clearly.
Output Speed: Prints up to 8.9 lines per second and includes an integrated automatic guillotine cutter.
2. Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Pro Wi-Fi 7 Access Point
Part Number: U7-PRO
Wireless Technology: Operates across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands to maintain clean data transmission in environments with high wireless interference.
Data Port: Features a 2.5 GbE network port on the base to bridge data back to the wired printer.
System Integration: Fully managed via standard UniFi Network Controller software.
3. Ubiquiti UniFi 5-Metre Cat6 RJ45 Patch Lead (Black)
Part Number: U-CABLE-PATCH-5M-RJ45-BK
Design: Ultra-thin, flexible cable routing that simplifies management around counters or inside conduit.
Required Infrastructure Note: The Ubiquiti U7 Pro access point requires Power over Ethernet (PoE+) to operate. If your existing network switch does not output PoE+, or if you do not have an existing UniFi PoE injector on site, you will need to purchase a compatible 44–57V DC PoE+ injector separately to power the access point.
