During a visit to the Original BTC factory in Stoke-on-Trent, Beata Heuman was inspired by the translucent quality of bone china—a material long celebrated by Original BTC for its warm, diffused glow.

The result is the Alma light by Beata Heuman for Original BTC: a beautifully crafted ceramic pendant that transforms the atmosphere of any space. The Alma shade, created by Original BTC and envisioned by Beata Heuman, features 41 hand-pierced holes that become radiant points of light when illuminated. As Beata Heuman describes it, the Alma casts the effect of “little glowing stars at night,” creating a soft, celestial mood that adds depth and intimacy to both modern and traditional interiors.

Nodding to mid-century Scandinavian lighting traditions, the Alma light by Original BTC and Beata Heuman is available in three hand-painted colorways: seaweed, natural, and coral. Whether installed above a dining table, beside a bed, or as a series in a hallway, the Alma brings warmth, character, and a gentle radiance to any setting.

Each Alma pendant by Original BTC and Beata Heuman is made using traditional bone china techniques in Stoke-on-Trent. The process begins with a liquid clay slip poured into molds. Once set, the shade, base, or ceiling rose is removed, dried, and carefully fettled by hand to ensure flawless detail. Finally, each piece is biscuit-fired or glaze-fired for a softly glowing white finish—a hallmark of Original BTC’s iconic approach to lighting.
