The ultimate apparel fabric, merino wool accomplishes everything synthetics have been trying to imitate for generations. 

Long sleeved for sun coverage, protection from insects, and base layer warmth. Cuffed ankles and wrists allow you to roll them up or down for a custom fit. As always our garments are made in Canada.

What's the material like? 

Light (180GSM) 90% Superfine Grade Merino Wool blended with 10% nylon for soft smoothness. Ideal for summer, warmer climates or in cool weather as a base layer. A single knit jersey with a 85% Stretch. Not treated with plasma or super wash chemicals, but machine washable on cool with no issue.

Why choose merino wool?

Merino wool is arguably the best material you can choose as a winter base layer. Wool’s natural properties provide excellent thermal regulation-something small children can struggle with. Merino wool is light, soft, doesn’t itch, and effectively eliminates moisture. It can be worn multiple times between washes and the nature of merino wool's fibres allow it to be machine washed without felting and shrinking. 

What is the cut and fit like? 

This Little Sprout Base Layer Top has a slim cut with a straight hem. The fabric is stretchy and fits the body shape of most every child comfortably in the age range described. There is no spandex in this material but we dont find it becomes droopy as it has a nice tight knit.  The crew neck collar protects the neck from the elements. The bottoms are fitted, not tight, and fit true to size for the recommended ages in our chart.
