This beautiful and intelligent bird lives in the Brazilian Pantanal, the largest tropical wetland in the world. In the wild, it is a highly social bird, living in pairs or small groups that make short daily migrations for feeding.
Sadly, it was estimated that during the 1980s, more than 10,000 of these incredible creatures were taken from the wild due to intense illegal poaching. Compounded with habitat loss from deforestation and wildfires, pastureland conversion, and ongoing hunting for feathers, the Hyacinth Macaw has declined and is now listed as a vulnerable species.
We're partnering with Greater Good Charities, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, to protect the Hyacinth Macaw through habitat conservation and community education. Donate today to help protect this vulnerable species and other at-risk wildlife!
