Ideal for deep fat fryers or oils, the Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher is designed to expel a liquid agent that cools down the fire, and creates a soapy layer that smothers it.

This extinguisher is only suitable for Class (A) and Class (F) fires, and is distinguished by an Oatmeal band.

Available in two capacities for various applications;

• Compact 2.0 litre for small kitchens & food trucks; and
• Large capacity 7.0 litre for commercial kitchens.

Note: This fire extinguisher can only be used on Class (A) and Class (F) type fires.

How Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers Work
Wet chemical fire extinguishers are specifically designed to tackle Class F fires, which involve cooking oils and fats commonly found in commercial kitchens. When discharged, the extinguisher releases a fine mist of a potassium-based solution. This process involves two key actions:

• Cooling the fire: The water content in the solution rapidly cools the surface of the burning oil or fat, lowering the temperature below its ignition point.
• Saponification: The chemical reacts with the hot oil to create a soapy foam layer. This foam seals the surface of the oil, smothering the fire and preventing re-ignition by blocking oxygen.

This dual-action—cooling and smothering—is what makes wet chemical extinguishers uniquely effective for deep fat fryer fires and other cooking oil incidents. They are not suitable for use on electrical fires or flammable liquids.
